Australia's top restaurateurs gather to salute each other at the AFR Top Restaurant Awards | Restaurants | Scoop.it

"They're the rock stars of cheese," one party-goer observed as she scanned a room heaving with the names that make up Australia's restaurant industry.

The rock stars in question – the duo behind Holy Goat cheesemaker Carla Meurs and Ann-Marie Monda – know each of their 100 goats by name. But few Australians would know of them. They sit at the insider-only, food-clubby end of the celebrity spectrum.

Now, the secret is out.

Bruno and Patricia Gabbana have been market gardeners for more than 30 years, farming fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers that are chemical-free and grown using sustainable practices.

Most of their produce is still growing the day before they offer it for sale at the Peregian Beach Market, and you can't get fresher than that.

Takeaway That Comes To You: 5 Food Delivery Services And How They Work | Restaurants | Scoop.it

A few years ago when you wanted to get takeaway food from your favourite restaurant, you had to call up, order and wait around before going to pick it up.

TURNING off the main highway I am struck by the immediate sense of calm that envelops me as I leave the city behind and enter New South Wales’ Hunter Valley wine region. Where busy city streets are replaced by perfect rows of vineyards and winding roads.

But the Hunter Valley I remember has changed. Instead of country cafes and a handful of shops there are now wine bars, hatted restaurants and gourmet food producers. It’s become sophisticated and passionate, attracting visitors who are now as interested in the food as they are the wine.
